A special photo

I toke this photo that shows Charly, who was the smallest member of my family and that was adopted by us after my mom died. The picture is from 2014, Charly has lived a few years with us, at that time I was living in my home in Arica, with my loved ones.

I like this picture because it brings me so many memories and because I was able to capture a moment where Charly seems to pretend playing my keyboard. An special photo to remember a furry (aquí cambié lo de cuatro patas pq no hay expresión formada en ingles para aquella frase) friend that was so special and important in my life.

The moment where Charly climbes to the keyboard was brief, just a few seconds, and fortunately this moment were immortalized in this picture.

 I have Aymara heritage from both sides of my family. I am the grandson of a Yatichiri and for some years I helped the Andean community to which I belong. I have joined projects and jobs where Aymara culture and language are rescued. In 2019, I participated in an Aymara and Quechua workshop thanks to the Program of Native Peoples of the Recoleta City Council. There I contribute with my experiences as a member of the Aymara community and also with what I have been learning in the Sociology career. I have also tried to learn Andean music, so the song of our grandparents never dies. I joined an Andean music band called Muxa Aru, there I learned to play Tarka and participated in different musical events where I was able to share with many people who respect and share their experiences about the Aymara people. The keyboard of my life

 My favorite piece of technology is my keyboard. I have it since 2011, I have been using this keyboard for a decade. In fact, it is old, it is not a modern keyboard, neither is an expensive keyboard. I like to play songs on my keyboard when I have free time. I use it to stress relief, to relax or to practice songs that I like. I like the simplicity of my keyboard and how it continues working despite the years. It is one of the few objects that I brought from Arica when I came to live in Santiago. I think that without my keyboard I would feel sad.

What I want to do with my academic future

  In the future I would like to do a master in literature, like the master of Latin-American and Chilean literature, at the University Of Santiago De Chile. The reasons why I would like to do this course is that I want to study the work of Alfonso Alcalde, an unknown Chilean narrative writer who writes about different social realities, with deep reflexions about topics like sadness, loneliness and death, with a Chilean and Latin-American point of view. I would like to study his work here in Chile, maybe I could study with a part-time system, so I can do more activities.
